A Community Growing Initiative
As a voluntary organisation, volunteers are at the heart of everything that we do! Over the past year our volunteers have erected polytunnels at schools and our community allotment, dug beds, planted seeds, harvested crops, installed raised beds, moved compost, given gardening workshops, distributed seed potatoes on stalls and a whole lot more more!
We hold weekly volunteer sessions every Thursday from 1pm – 3pm at Grove Nursery, Hazledene Road, Aberdeen AB15 8LD. We have access to a large polytunnel and greenhouse where we plant seeds then take care of the seedlings that can be distributed to community groups as well as bringing on plants for food that we give out to volunteers, larders and others in need locally. These are very informal sessions with plenty of refreshments and chat!
As a volunteer, enthusiasm is as important as experience. We will provide you with equipment and instruction, a friendly environment and a choice of things to do with like-minded people to enhance your skills and knowledge, or just to get outdoors and work in and with nature.
